Why Marketing?
Helping businesses connect with customers has NEVER been more exciting than it is right now! There are more creative avenues than ever before with new channels emerging every day! Business intelligence is readily available and it's never been easier to "keep score" by capturing and analyzing marketing data. It's also a pretty amazing feeling to share in the success when the team comes together and crushes campaign goals!
What one word would you use to describe yourself?
"Professional" - Throughout my career, this is a word that has come to have deep meaning for me. I believe in conducting myself with integrity, being reliable, and being someone who others want to work with. When you work with "pros", projects become much easier, more successful, and a lot more FUN.
What do you see on the horizon for your line of work?
Data and artificial intelligence will continue to drive marketing optimization. New methods of gaining information about the customer will continue to emerge and allow businesses to further optimize the delivery of marketing content.
Is there any advice you would give to a person who is starting out in marketing/communications?
Be a good coworker! You don't have to be a "10" on absolutely everything, but if you are a hard worker and a pleasant colleague, people will want you around. The quality of your output and a professional manner of delivery matter, but don't neglect being a team member that others enjoy working with. Be dependable, respectful and drama-free!
What's the best advice you've ever received?
My Mom once told me that the easiest thing to do in life is to be on time. She's right! I've taken it a step further and I try and be five minutes early for everything. Doing this eliminates a lot of stress and I always get a good seat at the conference room table!
